The Role
ERM has set an ambition to become the world’s leading sustainability consulting firm. Two geographical centres of excellence have been created focusing on corporate sustainability strategy consulting. These centres of excellence work in a similar way to innovative management consulting practices but with the additional benefit of being able to draw on the deep technical expertise of environmental and social specialists across ERM’s global business.
We work with clients to protect and enhance business value by improving their environmental and social performance. Our strategic recommendations are supported by a rigorous fact-based financial business case with a solid appreciation for the cultural and governance challenges to be overcome in order to effect meaningful change.
An exciting position is available for a senior consultant to join the Sustainability Strategy consulting team in the London office. The candidate will support the Principal Consultant and Partner responsible for this area. Main responsibilities will include
- project delivery and team management with the world’s largest multi-national clients in the extractives and power sectors
- client relationship management
- creation of innovative, winning proposals
- contributing to thought leadership and marketing materials
Required Skills and Abilities
The candidate will need to demonstrate proficiency in the following:
- Relationship management - ability to build valuable and long lasting relationships with our key clients most of whom are FTSE or Fortune top 100 companies
- Leadership - ability to motivate and inspire project team members
- Effective communication - create compelling messages for executive presentations, concise and clear expression of ideas, confident verbal presentation essential
- Analytic skills - analyse environmental, social, health, safety and financial data and determine interrelationships – we will be particularly interested in candidates who can demonstrate financial acumen and innovation when it comes to costing environmental and social issues and impacts
- Conceptual thinking - use of conceptual diagrams, graphs etc. to create visually appealing messages for senior executive audiences
- Sustainable development - have a good overview of sustainable development and its implications for different industries
- Administration - ability to deliver projects on time and on budget whilst following ERM’s standard operating procedures
Experience
The ideal candidate will have experience in one of the following organisations:
- Global management consultancy
- Strategy consulting boutique
- Engineering consultancy
- Strategic position within banking, mining, oil & gas, power or a blue-chip company
Exposure to the following type of work assignments would be highly beneficial:
- Business case development
- Strategy development
- Process re-engineering
- Organisation model design
- Change management
Education
The candidate should have, as a minimum, at least one of the following:
- BSc in environmental science, engineering or anthropology
- BCom or similar finance degree
- MBA beneficial but not essential
- Foreign language skills would be highly valuable, especially French, Spanish and Portuguese
General
Some overseas and national travel will be expected as part of the role.
