Responsibilities:
  • Position Mohawk as a leader with regard to sustainability initiatives, as appropriate to Mohawk culture and business objectives.
  • Continually act as a clearinghouse for sustainability-related trending (including latest compliance needs, reporting and measurement tools) and cull into key business priorities. 
  • Over time, create and implement a holistic sustainability framework which will embed sustainability into Mohawk culture and every corporate functional area.
  • Serve as the primary internal resource for sustainability, and as external diplomat and voice to key audiences outside of Mohawk. 
  • Increase sustainability capability across the entire organization. 
  • View sustainability through the threefold lens of revenue generation, brand awareness, and cost savings.
  • Evaluate current sustainability priorities, then develop and implement a practical 3-5 year strategy, business plan and programs to support Mohawk’s overall business objectives.
  • Engage in stakeholder engagement by initiating and building relationships with key suppliers, thought leaders and critical non-governmental (NGO) organizations within the sustainability community (e.g. USGBC, GRI, WWF).
  • Develop or amend strategies based on market trends and research/insights. Set direction and help to set priorities based on market mores, reporting needs, coming compliance initiatives and general risk management (related to GRI, EPDs, LEED, PHAROS, etc.). 
  • Design training and education, especially for sales team, with the goal of making sure the entire organization can communicate it accurately.
  • Direct the design, prioritization, and implementation of sustainability initiatives towards increased ROI, enhanced customer reputation, and other applicable business priorities as uncovered. 
  • Initiate and build strategies and programs for Commercial sustainability operations that contribute to goals of the company—financial and otherwise.
  • Act as key customer advocate and primary consultant to Sales and Marketing organizations in development of customer-facing sustainability platforms, training/education programs, communications and collateral.
  • Partner with sales on key account management, help to determine key value proposition and strategic segments focus (e.g. within healthcare, hospitality, global).
  • Serve as content manager in the design, prioritization, and implementation of sustainability-related training across Commercial organization.
  • Develop a cross-functional Mohawk Sustainability Council, whose members will act as advocates in their various functions throughout the organization.
  • Consistently identify issues that have greatest impact on performance, and resolve or make recommendation for resolution.
  • Partner with marketing to create clear sustainability brand positioning within Mohawk’s competitive landscape.
  • Brief and partner with product development/R+D on an ongoing basis in order to support product direction regarding LCA as appropriate, ensure critical compliance—ultimately, to further end-to end sustainability-optimization across the supply chain (to include installation providers).
Qualifications:
  • 8-10+ total, with 2+ years in explicit sustainability role(s); progressive experience with recent demonstrated proficiency in sustainability leadership/program management in a global environment.
  • Undergraduate degree in Business, Finance, Environmental Engineering or Science (if coupled with further business education
