Job Description

We facilitate the development of sustainability standards; partner with business and civil society to enable organizations to successfully implement such standards; and work with SAI Corporate Program members and SA8000-certified facilities to provide training & tools for improving work conditions and realizing the benefits. Facilities in 65 countries are certified to SA8000, which is based on international labor and human rights conventions and labor law plus a proven management system. More than 1.3 million people work at SA8000 certified facilities. SAI works collaboratively with a wide variety of organizations. SAI affiliate SAAS accredits qualified auditing bodies to certify compliance with SA8000.
Goals Attain goals of SAI projects in India
- Support delivery of SAI/GIZ/BSCI Public-Private-Partnership in India (PPP) “Scaling Up Indian CSR Initiatives”
- Coordinate selection, recruitment and qualification of trainers in India
- Conduct research & collect stakeholder inputs for development of courses
- Reporting and communication among SAI, BSCI and GIZ partner organizations (Brands and suppliers) for all PPP activities
- Coordinate among suppliers for PPP trainings and collect their feedback
- Coordinate baseline and follow-up audits for project monitoring and evaluation
- Provide support for stakeholder consultations
Support delivery of SAI/DFID project in India (RAGS) “Responsible and Accountable Garment Sector”
- Coordinate qualification of trainers in India
- Conduct research & collect stakeholder inputs for development of courses
- Reporting and communication among SAI, DFID and other RAGS partners
- Coordinate among suppliers for RAGS trainings and collect feedback
- Collect and analyze data for project monitoring and evaluation
- Provide support for stakeholder consultations
- Organize Training of Trainers and supplier trainings
- Support coordination between PPP and RAGS projects
Work closely with SAI India project director and headquarters for delivery of the above projects
Support growth opportunities in delivery of trainings & TA, development of new programs, recruitment of Corporate Program members & support delivery of related services Social entrepreneurship and professional management
- Participate in SAI trainings for professional development
- Provide monthly progress reports towards achieved goals & objectives to SAI HQ.
- Report any conflict of interest during delivery of projects
- Maintain good working relationship with SAI partners in India
Experience & expertise required:
- Success in sustainable production & supply chain management in multiple industrial sectors
- Proven commitment to & experience in improving labor condition to meet international labor standards. Knowledge of Indian labor law is desirable.
- Ability to effectively communicate with unskilled workers to CEOs/Administrators
- Highly organized work style, with team building approach
- Self motivated and ability to work in flat organization structure
- Good knowledge of project management principles and techniques
- Experience in organizing trainings
Qualifications:
- Minimum Bachelors Degree, MBA or other relevant advanced degree [desirable]
- Five to Eight years of experience in the CSR field in India, ideally in both business and NGO organizations.
- Experience in Apparel and garments sector is desirable
- Excellent communications, reporting & project management skills
- Desirable: Knowledge of international social/environment/quality standards
- Fluent in English & Hindi, fluency in other regional languages, e.g. Tamil is desirable
Salary commensurate with experience.
This position is project based full time contract commitment for 2 years, strong possibility of continuation.
Candidate will require travel on regular basis.
