Job Description

The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) is seeking a highly motivated individual with a financial background to supervise and manage CDP’s relationships with North American investors and signatory entities. The position is based in CDP’s New York office.

CDP administers an annual disclosure process on behalf of 551 institutional investors with combined assets in excess of $71 trillion. This process culminates in disclosure by specific emitting entities and the publication of annual reports. Disclosing companies provide quantitative and qualitative information about their greenhouse gas emissions, energy efficiency programs, water management and strategic business approach to environmental risk. The Manager of Investor Engagement will report to CDP’s North America Director and will work integrally with the Global Investor Engagement team. The Manager will contribute to the development and implementation of the Investor Engagement team’s strategy and lead CDP’s engagement with its fiduciary signatories.

Main responsibilities

  • Building relationships with institutional investors and recruiting them as signatories and members
  • Generating revenue through sales of CDP memberships, special project sponsorships, and new products and services
  • Making presentations at relevant financial and other conferences, webinars, etc.
  • Convening and organizing investor roundtables and other informational events
  • Managing the content of the Investor CDP webpage and database
  • Account managing investor signatories and members
  • Supporting the development and delivery of new projects that advance CDP’s mission

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 years experience working within the financial markets in a sales or research role
  • An advanced degree in related specialties
  • A passion for integrating ESG issues into the mainstream investment process
  • Experience liaising with contacts in senior positions at pension funds, insurance companies and investment managers
  • A desire to take ownership and responsibility for their work
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and presentation skills and a desire to seek out speaking and networking opportunities
  • The ability to deliver excellent results under pressure and take pride in working to a high standard
  • A flexible but diligent working style, with proven record of working within a team
  • Financial PR expertise highly desirable
  • Bi-lingual candidates are preferred – especially in French and Spanish

The successful candidate will work 5 days per week, must be able to work legally in the US, and be able to travel nationally and internationally as required.
