Job Description
The Principles for Responsible Investment is an investor initiative in partnership with UNEP Finance Initiative and the UN Global Compact. Launched by UN Secretary- General Kofi Annan and subsequently endorsed by his successor Ban Ki-Moon, the PRI is a set of voluntary best practice principles to assist investors in integrating environmental, social and corporate governance issues into investment processes and ownership practices. The principles are supported by a Secretariat that promotes the PRI and provides implementation support to signatories.
Remuneration: This is an unpaid internship but all travelling and other reasonable expenses will be paid.
Summary of the position
The PRI Engagement Clearinghouse is a web-based forum for investor collaboration on shareholder and other engagement activities on environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) issues with companies and policy makers. This role involves providing support to the Head of Investor Engagements and the Clearinghouse team in the coordination of specific collaborative engagements on environmental, social and ESG disclosure issues. The internship offers several opportunities to understand the shareholder engagement and stewardship process around sustainability.
Role Description
- Co-ordinating relationships with investors in relation to a new possible collaborative engagement on ESG disclosure in India
- Compiling research and coordinate relationships with companies for a new possible collaborative engagement on use of water-related resources.
- Compiling research and preparing notes for existing collaborative engagements related to conflict minerals and labour standards in the supply chain.
Requirements
- Extremely well organised and efficient
- A keen interest and some knowledge of CSR/ESG and RI, specifically in relation to shareholder engagement
- Must be currently studying within the UK in a CSR, ESG or RI related subject
- Ability to work effectively without direct supervision, self-starter
- Ability to communicate well both orally and in writing
- Excellent people skills, tact and diplomacy
- Familiarity with the use of online applications (we use Google Apps, Skype, etc.)
- Excellent word and excel skills
- Some administrative and organisational experience
- Willing to attend conference calls over multiple time zones from time-to-time
- Must be able to satisfy visa requirements for part time working in the UK if a non EU citizen.
