Job Description
Lloyd’s Community Affairs team runs three grant-making charities and a large community involvement programme in East London, on behalf of the Lloyd’s market. As a result of the team taking on a wider CSR remit combined with sustained growth in volunteer numbers, we are looking for a professional, creative and supportive person to join our team next year. The team currently consists of Community Affairs Manager, two Community Affairs Executives and one part-time Community Affairs Assistant. The role is based in the iconic Lloyd’s building in the heart of the City of London.
Overall purpose
A busy and varied role managing the day-to-day operations of Lloyd’s Community Programme (LCP) and assisting with communications and events for Lloyd’s charitable work. LCP is an employee volunteering programme working in East London and involves around 1,500 volunteers from across the Lloyd’s market, each year. This year Lloyd’s Community Programme was shortlisted for the prestigious Lord Mayor’s Dragon Award for community involvement.
Major responsibilities and accountabilities
Core responsibilities:
• Day-to-day management of Lloyd’s Community Programme’s (LCP) existing volunteering schemes to achieve volunteering targets, with particular responsibility for existing literacy, numeracy and employability/raising aspirations programmes. Involves working in partnership with voluntary sector organisations (Tower Hamlets Education Business Partnership, East London Business Alliance and others) to recruit, train, induct and monitor volunteers, and liaise with volunteer co-ordinators across the Lloyd’s market.
• Supporting Lloyd’s Community Programme (LCP) Management Board; helping to prepare agenda, papers, minutes and driving forward follow-up action plans; liaising with the Finance Department to oversee annual membership donation renewal process and monitoring income and expenditure
• Managing our new flagship project Aim2Attain with our partner college Cambridge Heath Sixth Form College and its three feeder schools.
• Maintaining relationships with Lloyd’s companies who are members of Lloyd’s Community Programme and occasionally bringing new companies into membership.
• Planning, organising and producing events and communications associated with LCP, in particular summer volunteer celebration event
• Updating http://www.lloyds.com/and MyLloyd’s (Lloyd’s intranet), producing regular e-newsletters for volunteers and supporters
• Liaising and maintaining good working relationships with external community organisations and charities and annual grant application process. Facilitate annual reviews with key partner organisations.
• Maintaining accurate records of volunteer and company involvement on the LCP database.
• Undertaking measurement and evaluation of levels and impact of volunteer involvement including the annual LCP volunteers’ survey and completing the London Benchmarking Model (volunteering and LCP element only).
• Assisting with events and communications for Lloyd’s Charities Trust.
• Dealing with day to day correspondence and general enquiries in relation to LCP.

• Skills, knowledge and experience
Essential
• Experience of organising and developing employee volunteering programmes and/or of managing and motivating volunteer activity, particularly schools-based volunteering.
• Experience of organising and developing events and communications/marketing activity, with flair and creativity.
• Excellent personal communications skills – both face to face and written. The post will require production of external communications and correspondence to a high standard. The post holder should also be confident at giving presentations and be able to quickly establish credibility with a roomful of people, including at a senior level.
• Excellent administrative skills.
Desirable
• Previous experience of working with committees/management boards and of compiling agendas/papers/minutes
• Understanding of the social issues in East London and corporate community involvement programmes in the area
• Familiarity with Microsoft Access.
