Job Description
The International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) hosts the Green Economy Coalition (GEC), an international cross-sectoral initiative bringing together environment, development, trade union, consumer and business sectors, North and South. Established in 2009, GEC members are committed to a common cause: accelerating a transition to a new green economy (see www.greeneconomycoalition.org for further information).
The GEC is at an exciting stage in its development and is seeking the support of an experienced Communications Manager to develop, coordinate and implement an innovative and ambitious communications strategy.
The role offers an exciting opportunity to help develop a significant global initiative in ways that will influence a diverse range of audiences and make a major contribution to debate and action around the world. The role will involve implementing a Communications strategy; raising awareness of the GEC by producing brochures, newsletters and online postings; and communicating with and coordination of the Coalition’s partner organisations.
To succeed in this role you must have a degree (or equivalent experience), as well as substantial relevant work experience in a communications capacity for both print and online media. Combined with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you will have a track record of raising an organisation’s brand awareness, and a strong understanding of new social media. Knowledge of sustainable development and economic issues is highly desirable.
Contract Type: One year fixed-term contract, with possibility of extension. The post is also available as a secondment.
Hours: 35 hours per week.
